Online Exhibits
Here is a sample of online exhibits I have either curated and designed or else just designed.
Curated and Designed:
Thoroughly Modern Meiko: the Adventures of Muriel Orr-Ewing
This exhibit, based on the Muriel Orr-Ewing Papers collection in the University Archives, provides a rare uncensored glimpse into the world of a modern 20th century woman. From a very early age, Muriel Orr-Ewing (nicknamed "Meiko") was a prolific writer. Exhibiting an intense desire to capture her thoughts and feelings on the people, places and events in her life, Meiko wrote constantly over the course of her lifetime. In this online exhibit, Meiko's story is told through her own distincitve voice.
Samuel P. Capen: University Man
Samuel Capen was the first full-time, salaried Chancellor of the University of Buffalo. Under his leadership, the University was transformed from a small group of autonomous schools into a modern university of 14 divisions and a central campus. Capen was acknowledged as a leader in higher education, particularly known for his strong defense of academic freedom and innovation in liberal arts instruction.
Eva M. Noles: Nurse, Educator, Volunteer, Community Leader, Author
On March 14, 2005 Eva Noles formally donated her collection of scrapbooks, photographs and memorabilia to the University Archives. This online exhibit corresponds to the special physical exhibition highlighting Mrs. Noles' life work and achievements, September 21, 2005.
Women's Work: a tribute to the women who make UB work
This exhibition focuses on the achievements that women faculty, staff, and administration have made and their contributions to the University at Buffalo over the past 100 years. Opening on September 28, 2004, the online exhibit includes all of the biographies of the 80+ women selected for the exhibit, samples from oral histories with some of the women, AND a taste of UB women's work: programs for and reviews of Sylvia Dimiziani's concerts, Susan Howe's poetry, a short movie directed by Meg Knowles, clips of Virginia Leary speaking at a teach-in, a radio interview with Helen Lyman...
